Quantity Surveyor

Roxford Homes are renowned for building exceptional new homes that combine character and contemporary interior styling. We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our rapidly expanding, forwarding thinking company at our new site in Longton.


Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be involved with all aspects of estimating, procurement of materials, appointing subcontractors and plant hire on housing developments.

  • Working as part of a multi-discipline project team based on site, leading on all commercial matters.

  • Day to day management of all commercial matters of the project.

  • Ensure projects are delivered within budgets and timescales ensuring profit margins are achieved.

  • Follow systems and processes to allow effective measurement of commercial performance.

  • Provide accurate, real time monthly reports, final outcome forecasts and project cash flows to demonstrate commercial performance.

  • Tender analysis, subcontractor and supplier procurement and management and payment of subcontractor accounts.

  • Identify potential build cost savings through alternative specification proposals

  • Develop initial budget and finalise in conjunction with Managing Director


Background and Personal Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of Quantity Surveying experience essential in the residential sector on new homes with a housing developer

  • Detailed knowledge of commercial management and QS Role within construction

  • Good understanding of project planning, project execution and HSE policies

  • Advanced IT skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge and protection of contractual position

  • Commercial skills to maximise value recovery, cost control and cash management

  • Knowledge and understanding of measurement and valuation

  • Preparation and understanding of financial reports

  • Knowledge and understanding of final accounts

  • Knowledge and understanding of sub-contract orders and buying

Land Buyer

Roxford Homes are renowned for building exceptional new homes that combine character and contemporary interior styling. We are looking for an experienced Land Buyer to join our rapidly expanding, forwarding thinking company.

The role will include:

  • Making direct contact with land-owners, land agents and reviewing land opportunities

  • Liaise with relevant divisional departments, e.g. Sales/Technical, and external consultants if required, throughout the land appraisal and bid process, and during planning application

  • Keeping up to date with planning policy and Local Plan changes and involvement

  • Building / maintaining and agency contact / network

  • Responsible for site identification, appraisal and approval to the point of purchase.

  • Creating and maintaining strong relationships with land owners, local agents other stakeholders.

  • Coordinating Land, sales, technical & commercial teams to deliver workable and commercially viable land bids

  • Putting together acquisition proposals which are presented professionally along with other department’s insight.

  • Monitor the Division’s land database including site registration, development plans and offers submitted


You will ideally have:

  • At least 3 years in a residential development role

  • Experience of the Housing market

  • Strong communication and analytical skills

  • A network in or knowledge of the North West region

  • Exceptional negotiating and influencing skills; a confident and professional networker

  • An innovative thinker, with the drive to seek out and pursue potential development opportunities

  • Articulate, clear and credible individual who is able to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of people, engender rapport and trust, and develop and maintain key contacts

  • Must have a professional qualification - MRICS/MRTPI
